I am replying to you directly as the file is fairly large for an 
Update.  Please note that the DVD is NOT RW.  Apparently HAL found it as 
a RW type.  It is not defined in fstab.  The CD-RW is defined in fstab 
as /dev/scd1 WITHOUT "rw" in the options.  Looks like HAL is confused.
