Thanks for the reply. This error is reproducible. Since I last reported this problem things have got a little worse.
To recreate - put CDR in drive. Click on ISO file (Intrepid Beta) and select Wrirte to Disk. Use CDDVDW SH-S202J (Only drive listed). Use slowest speed CD:1.0x DVD:0.1x (see attached Initial-burn-speed.png). Starts to try to prepare disk but fails with error -select slower burn speed (see Error1.png). Close all windows. Now using new CD of same type again try to burn a CD from the ISO and new speed settings are displayed (see attached New-burn-speeds.png).
I've already raised a problem with one drive rebooting the PC when a DVD is inserted (see bug #258872) could this be related to this problem.
I also include a couple of log files. Dmesg at 25.013749s says Driver 'sr' needs updating - please use bus_type methods. How do I do this ? Kern.log says cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize! at the end.
I really would like to resolve this as I want to contribute to the Intrepid beta testing (I was able to burn CDs for Alpha6 Ubuntu and Kubuntu using my current configuration).
If I try to burn at other speeds I get Error1.png again. I can't burn any CDs at the moment (I'll reboot and see if this allows me to burn some CDs and get back to you).
How do I run list_cddrives ?
