Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: k3b

This looks similar but not identical to bug #109327 reported about a
month ago.

I've just come here from FC5, installed Kubuntu Dapper using the new
Samsung SATA optical drive I bought this week.

When I attempt to copy a data CD using k3b the read phase from /dev/scd0
appears to work OK, then when attempting to write the image to a blank
CD-R it fails giving the messages "Cdrecord has no permission to open
the device" and "You may use K3bsetup2 to solve this problem" which
didn't work when I tried it. The Show Debugging Output button gives:-

I have managed to write a data DVD using this same drive with k3b,
though

A copy operation works without problems on an old PC with a PATA CD
burner.
