Public bug reported:
I am using Xubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn).
When starting k3b, i get to see the starting screen but nothing else happens. Checking /var/log/messages, i get the following:
May 12 12:17:16 atropos kernel: [ 1417.433349] ide: failed opcode was: unknown
May 12 12:17:16 atropos kernel: [ 1417.433405] hdc: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest }
Those messages continue and the starting screen remains on the display,
as i am not able to kill the corresponding k3b-process:
r0bert at atropos:~$ ps -A | grep k3b
9253 ? 00:00:00 k3b
r0bert at atropos:~$ sudo kill -9 9253
Password:
r0bert at atropos:~$ ps -A | grep k3b
9253 ? 00:00:00 k3b
The only way I have found so far to get rid of this is to reboot the machine.
The following informations might be of relevance:
