If I'm not mistaken, I ran across this bug last night while trying to
use gcdmaster (it causes a long pause before it runs) in Feisty. Today
I did a clean boot and here's the output from Terminal:

$ gcdmaster

Error trying to open /dev/hda exclusively (Permission denied)... retrying in 1 second.

But it does eventually start (last night there were ~30 of the 1 second
retries!)
