[Bug 83609] k3b crashes midway through creating dvd image

Binary package hint: k3b

Trying to backup a 5.x gig DVD. k3b crashes without warning after having
written a 4G iso file on disc, which i suppose is incomplete.

the dvd is brand new
drive is:

matshita uj-822d
dev/hdb
firmware 1.00
does everything but write dual layer dvds (- or +)
cdrdao driver auto
cd-text capable auto
supports burnfree
modes: sao; tao; restricted overwrite

this is on an asus v6v laptop running ubuntu edgy, kernel  2.6.17-10-386
patched with suspend2, otherwise default.
