<p>Thanks for the advice. It fails with kernel 4.13 but works with
4.10 so I booted into that, did lshw -C video and found It's
running the Intel i915 driver. According to
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://bugs.freedesktop.org">https://bugs.freedesktop.org</a>, it's a known problem which will
probably be fixed in 4.15 .</p>
