no, the launchpad team has nothing to do with subscription status on 
lists.ubuntu.com
I pressed the unsubscribe button for both users in this thread wanting 
to ubsubscribe, they should have an email with a link to click on.
Anyone can put in the email address and press the unsubscribe request 
button, it sends a link to the user. That is probably a better thing to 
do for a user than just replying and telling them to sort it out 
themselves, that doesn't give them any more information than was at the 
bottom of every email anyway. Maybe they don't have a browser that can 
render the form efficiently or something.

If there is a bug in the unsubscribe functionality then it would be good 
to know what that bug is, but in general I have reason to believe that 
some people have been able to unsubscribe from some lists.
