Link to a related branch means link the bug to a code branch, usually a 
branch that might have a fix and has been proposed as one.  Are you 
trying to get one bug be assigned to multiple projects?  If so, you want 
to click on "Also affects project" and add hundred paper cuts.  This bug 
for example, affects 5 different projects including papercuts.

If thats not what you meant, then I don't fully understand your question.
