I cannot update/upgrade, get error messages about packets, no idea how to fix it

I keep getting a red dot with a white line in it and the info it conveys is as follows:
I could not get Ubuntu to let me copy and paste, so I attached the whole screen snapshot.
The part that I wanted you to see is in the upper right top area.  A black box with writing, detailing the problem that I cannot figure out how to correct/fix, so hope you can.
