A simple web search to "define mentor program", for me, turns up many
cite-able articles describing what to expect. Just two of the many
example articles: the Medical Services Corps' abbreviated guide, at
http://www.au.af.mil/au/awc/awcgate/mentor/mentor.htm , or "Making a
Mentoring Relationship Work: What is Required for Organizational
Success", by Lisa Kahle-Piasecki, at
http://www.na-businesspress.com/JABE/PiaseckiWeb.pdf.
The recurring theme, or key, seems to be in actively forming a
relationship. That means consistent, intentional communications about
every part: expectations, goals, coaching and review. I think we can
look for opportunities here.
