Firefox speed bug

Hello,

I recently installed Ubuntu on a computer of a friend.
He said, that Firefox would't load a website fast.
The problem is unknown, can you help us?

Every other application on Ubuntu (Lucid Lynx) works fast and is able to
download files with 500KB/s.
But Firefox needs very long to load a website.

I installed Firefox 4.0 Beta and there was the same problem.
Now I installed "Midori" a browser like Firefox.
It works fast, but it isn't confortable.
