O melhor que você faz é estudar e aprender o que os comandos fazem, e não
apenas executá-los. Tente:
 sudo iwconfig wlan0 essid "jcinco" mode ad-hoc channel 4 rate auto enc off
 sudo iwconfig wlan0 up

Se bem que é preferível você usar o aplicativo gráfico:
