> baixei o fonte e fui seguindo as instruções.. na hora de dar o make,
retorna

Sugestão - parece que está faltando o linux-headers pro seu kernel.
Busque por headers no apt-cache ou synaptic e ache os pacotes linux-headers

Se não for isso, aí deve estar faltando algo mais específico.
