Please suggest more apps and tweaks that u want to see included in this script. But please exclude
the following:
A) Anything and everything that includes compiling from source code. I WILL NOT add any such
capability to Automatix.
B) Anything and everything that includes editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Please bear in mind that
xorg.conf was created keeping the human user in mind (and manual editing), and NOT shell
scripting. Hence, editing it with a bash script is quite dangerous in certain cases. I will not
undertake any such venture.
To install Automatix, download the tar file and do the following:
Code:
tar xzf automatix-breezy.tar.gz cd Automatix ./install
P.S.: Users can test this script on Kubuntu (some users have reported problems on Kubuntu and I
want to do some testing myself and version 3.0 will be fully compatible with kubuntu) but they
need to install zenity (which DOES not come preinstalled with kubuntu) to make this script work.
To install zenity do the following from terminal:
Code:
sudo apt-get install zenity
IMPORTANT NOTE: I have NOT included the following packages anywhere in the script:
a) w32codecs (to make mplayer and mplayer plugin fully operational u need this!)
b) libdvdcss2 (to play DVD's u need this!)
This is because downloading and installing these packages without paying a fee to the relevant
authorities constitutes a CRIME in the country where I come from (United States of America). If no
such law exists in the country where you come from, you are welcome to download and install these
packages to play most audio formats and dvd's.
