You system is almost the same as mine. Though my chip set appears to be
slightly newer. I have the same issues but the problem is so bad that
once I leave full screen in any program, my computer becomes unusable.
Objects on the screen become completely graphically bugged. The entire
systems frame rate seems to drop to a frame every few seconds. But if I
leave it the mouse will start working fine, but the graphics still
bugged. Then if I try to interact with the system it bogs down again.
I've tried this of things.

 - openjdk-6-jre
 - openjdk-7-jre
 - VGA
 - DVI
 Each settings has no change.

My computer
 - OS: Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit
 - RAM: 8GiB (DDR2 800)
 - Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II 64 Processor 3.1Ghz
 - Graphics: NVIDIA Corporation G73 [GeForce 7300 GT] (512MiB DDR3)

So far the only thing I see smiler between our systems that could create this problem is the graphics card. However I've never had this problem with 10.04 i386/AMD64, 10.10 i386/AMD64, 11.04 i386/AMD64, and 11.10 AMD64.
Annoying I finally get my wireless to work on Ubuntu because I had it with Windows, and I can't play my game!(Minecraft)
