Ray,

Happy New Year.
The "firmware loading failed" problem should be fixed by ar3011 dkms package, but it seems not work for you.
So, I need more logs from you to dig into the problem.

1. install ar3011-dkms_1.1ryu2.4_all.deb, please remove dw1703-dkms_1.2_all.deb if you have installed it.
2. dkms status > dkms.log
3. add btusb, ath3k in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
   % head /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

   # This file lists those modules which we don't want to be loaded by
   # alias expansion, usually so some other driver will be loaded for the
   # device instead.

   blacklist ath3k
   blacklist btusb

   # evbug is a debug tool that should be loaded explicitly
   blacklist evbug
4. reboot, then lsusb > lsusb-1.log
5. modprobe ath3k, then lsusb > lsusb-2.log

Upload those logs here to see if I can find anything different.
