Experiencing exact same problem as Patrick. Jeff's workaround doesn't
work because module hidp can't be rmmod'ed.

Hardware: Lenovo Thinkpad T61

Because of the kernel stack trace in dmesg (same as Patrick's), I would
be tempted to say that it is somehow related to the kernel. At least the
fact that we can't rmmod hidp,
