Attaching to bluez for now as I think we quite a bit of information to
be going along with. Although this problem may yet be due the linux-
ports kernels using a different kernel version (2.6.25) than the
supported architectures (2.6.27).

I don't have either of these devices myself so there's only a limited
amount I can do to help.

Note new workaround from the psubuntu forums:

Need to question the author of that as to why and how that works.
