[Ubuntu-beginners] Fwd: Public logging in #ubuntu-beginners?

I am curious what brought this issue up. Was there an issue or problem that
came about because we dont have public logs. I am not a fan of logging for
logging sake. 'Because other teams do it' is not a good reason, in my
opinion. In the past when logs have been needed, as far as I know there has
not been an issue in getting them. As stated several members log the
channel, as well as our beloved Votebot.
I would not object to logging if others were in favor of it. With the
exception being our 'cafe' channel.

If someone is offended by the way we joke with each other, they might not be
a good fit for our team. I believe the laid back nature of our team is part
of its success. Our team has been growing by leaps and bounds, much faster
than many Ubuntu Teams I belong to. I think if we were an offensive lot, or
out of touch with the Ubuntu Community this would not be true. If we turn
our channel into some sanitized police state where every statement is
evaluated for its possible offensiveness to John Q. Public, I believe we
would be making a big mistake. That being said i believe our joking around
does not violate the CoC. If i tell paultag to 'shove it, you inadequate
weiner' in my opinion I believe that is within the CoC. Paultag nows I love
him and that within our friendship I am being 'Considerate' and
'Respectful'. If I said that to a complete stranger, that would not be
keeping with the CoC. If someone else saw my comment to paultag and was
offended, is that a violation of the CoC? Well in my opinion that is not the
way the CoC should be used. But like the Constitution and the Bible, that
is open to interpretation.
