Hi to all,
The 2011 Software Freedom Day will be organized on September 17th :
everyone is invited to participate and organize an event or activity.
In short, the Software Freedom Day (SFD) is a worldwide celebration of
Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). The goal in this celebration is to
educate the worldwide public about the benefits of using high quality
FOSS in education, in government, at home, and in business -- in short,
everywhere! The non-profit organization Software Freedom International
coordinates SFD at a global level, providing support, giveaways and a
point of collaboration, but volunteer teams around the world organize
the local SFD events to impact their own communities.
See more in http://www.softwarefreedomday.org/
If you wish organize an event, you should first constitute a team to
prepare the activity.
An important step is the registration of the team through the site in 2
steps :
1. create an account (by the team leader) at the SFD wiki:
http://wiki.softwarefreedomday.org/FrontPage?action=login
2. fill the form at http://www.softwarefreedomday.org/cgi-bin/register.py
The registration is now open : the first 200 registered teams
(registration before 02/08/2011!) will receive a kit of supplies
provided by the SFD organization ( cd's and other goodies).
The first team (Ostend) is already registered.
Nevertheless, the registration is not mandatory to organize an
event/activity !
Happy Software Freedom Day 2011 !--
