IRC meeting 12/05/2010 – Report

1. Past and future events
 a.  Dipro Antwerp (09/05)

Summary: a successful event, but the "launch/install party" concept 
doesn't fit into the Dipro fair.
Nevertheless, there was a continuous affluence of visitors from 10 to 17 
h., no time for a pause!
A few lessons learned :
- Importance of an improved decoration and new lay-out for the booth, 
for an easier contact with the public,
- It is worthy to ask a booth along a wall, and if possible close to the 
entrance and/or the food and drink facilities,
- It is easy to add posters and flyers at the entrance of the event to 
inform and attract the visitors to the booth.
- Promotion: local promotion for our Dipro booth with simple A3 posters 
is always possible, just have a look for good locations (to be done by 
the local teams!).

 b. Release parties Lucid Lynx 10.04 LTS.
- No report about (9/5) Release party in Brussel – dewereldmorgen.be and 
(11/5) Testrit with ubuntu in Kortrijk.
- Ghent : Release party (13/5).

- Genk : Ubuntu-meeting (Bitmappers) (16/5) – details in the last mail 
from Fabian to the mailing list (12/5).
- Ostend : Presentation/Install party organized by Ubuntu-be with the 
support of the local organization Zandletters on 29/5, 13.30 - 15.00 hr. 
See home page http://zandletters.be/. Volunteers to help and visitors 
are welcome.

 c. Other events : no information about UDS and LGM

 d. Planning September : 05/09 Dipro Ghent , 12/09 Dipro Antwerp (Bram 
will organize thez booth), 18/09 Software Freedom Day (activity not yet 
determined), 26/09 Dipro Hasselt (Clamam will organize the booth), 26/09 
Nielse Computer dag

2. Promotion
 a. Press Release Lucid Lynx : no information about the result in the press.

 b. Public Relations. We need a Public-Relations Team (with people who 
knows about Public Relations). First step is to nominate new dutch and 
french press contact points. The main problem is to find a few motivated 
volunteers ! Who will answer to this call ?

 c. New banner to identify our booth in the events : exchange of ideas 
is going on in the mailing list.

3. Support points map status : see the summary in the mail from 
mongolito404 on 13/05/2010 at 10.51 hr. to the mailing list.

4. Things living in the mailing list
 a. New ways/events to promote Ubuntu.
Remember : all suggestions are welcome,  everybody can look for contact 
and propose activities. Examples : events in Ostend (29/5) and Niel (26/9).

 b. Update of the wiki (an old item still valid)
The wiki page belgianteam/responsibility is in process being updated.  
The website link "contact" in the home page should be updated as the 
(press) nl and fr contacts are not correct.
