Hi,
As many may have noticed, the Ubuntu-be.org website went down last
Friday. It happened because Cedric's server was shut down by its
provider after it was hacked. The server hosted several other site and
Cedric wasn't able to restore ubuntu-be.org immediatly because of
issues with the DNS configuration procedure. We weren't able to work
on the issue until Sunday.
While searching for an emergency hosting for our site, I received an
offer form the FSF France to provide an virtual server on it's
infrastructure for free. I spend some time on Sunday working with a
FSF France member to get the server up and running. In the meantime,
the DNS was updated through JanC who contacted the right person. DNS
change takes time to propagate but by Sunday 23h, the server was able
to serve requests and redirect them to a temporary page on the wiki.
Yesterday I fully restored the main website and it should be all fine
by now.
http://map.ubuntu-be.org is not restored and still unreachable. I
don't plan to restore the old site. Instead I plan to install the new
support point module on the main site. Once it's done, requests on
http://map.ubuntu-be.org will get redirected to it's entry page.
