[Ubuntu-be] Next Ubuntu party (Edgy?)

== This is an email about a future Ubuntu party *in a few months* ==

(please note: I'm not talking here about current Dapper party/drink, but
probably a next "The Edgy Eft" party: around October 2006).

Some ideas (and already good news!):

Yesterday I made phone calls to Jonathan Loriaux (the guy who -pretty
well- organised last Ubuntu Breezy party in Brussels), to Cédric
Janssens, and to organizer of 'Cream e Gusto' parties in Brussels
[cremaegusto.be] = kind of "Bulex" party (people from Brussels know it
very well).
They were all very interested to help to organize a "big" Ubuntu party.

Of course, it was too late to seriously organize a party for this
Saturday, everybody is busy, lot of ubuntu-be.org people are still
studying, ... So, probably the best is to find a day in the future and
like Cédric said: make it as well organized as possible. Totally agree.

Let me explain in a few points:

- next Ubuntu release (The Edgy Eft) will ship around October 2006.

- Last Breezy party was based on a good idea to organize it in a
discotheque with a bar (no need to bring and buy drinks by ourselves),
with a big screen for the demo and presentation (for Internet connexion:
ClearWire -belgian WiMax provider- gave us a modem for the party).
Thanks to Jonathan who -hardly- organized the party.

- Associate "Linux Install party" and "real party" is a nice idea :-)

- About "Crema e Gusto" party in Brussels I was talking about: it's
often located in a big building ("Bodega") with 3 or 4 different rooms.
Entrance is free before 22h30. Usually you can ask -freely- to organize
a drink for your birthday on the smallest room: this is the beginning of
THE idea:
... why not ask this room to make a demo and an ubuntu-be.org meeting?
we can easily have a drink and after that we can enjoy the music party!

- I know one of the 3 organizers and he seems very interested in open
source and Linux OS. During my phone call, he told me "it could be more
ambitious... I have to talk to other organizers... but we can associate
a next party with this Ubuntu Linux happening?" B-) yes, sure.
"... People could go to the Ubuntu room during our party to discover
it?". Yes :-) really a cool idea.

ubuntu-be.org people, what do you think about it?

If we can confirm a date for a special Ubuntu event, maybe it could
become a important public party...
It could be a traditional 'install party' + music party + demo on
screens + distribution of Ubuntu CD's + press invitation + ...

Send feedback please :p
