umm we were talking about email client right?
then we should look alternative in claws mail/evolution/thunderbird/kmail.
in opensource world choice is unlimited, its just matter of taste who likes
what. I personally liked kmail

on data safety,
to be frank when we are connected to the World Wide Web we are constantly
sharing information, via email twitter facebook blog and what not? we are
even using third party image/file hosting companies. In reality you never
have total control over the information you share online, if you are so
scared about your data being leaked or being used in any way you don't like,
stop being online (yah that's backdated thought, but its the only way out).
