[Ubuntu-BD] DVD drive not found in mint 10

Today I successfully installed Mint 10 Julia customised.
But I cant see my DVD drive.
When i put the mint DVD I only saw that then, but when i put / inserted
another normal cd/dvd say data, nothing came. when I inserted a video CD/DVD
I saw the movie but no sound.
I checked the sound option but in vain.
Please tell me what to do. I am worried as data CD/DVD  are not recognized
then I am at a loss.
