I'm sorry if I have touched your feelings, but it has nothing to do
with any emotional/nationalistic/ethnic subjects. The language, which
we speak, and which we call বাংলা, of course, is Bangla for us in our
language, but in the English language/The Queen's English, the
language which we speak, বাংলা, called "Bengali". For example, I have
contributed a few translations for the GNOME localization project, and
if you check the staus page:
http://l10n.gnome.org/languages/
You will find it listed under "Bengali" and "Bengali(India)". It is
not written "Bangla", because the web site is in the English language.
In that language, our language, বাংলা, is called "Bengali". Under the
Oxford English dictionary, under the entry of "Bengali":

the Indian subcontinent. 2 the Indic language of Bangladesh and West
Bengal.


Here the 2nd entry is the one we are interested in. A search for
"Bangla" does not return any results. Again, I don't have any
nationalistic/ethnic/religious reasons for suggesting "Bengali", its
just a matter of correct vocabulary.
