Did you have to do any tweak to do it? I personally have terrible nightmarish experience of running visual studio 2008 on dual core processors and Office 2007 on P4 3GHz processors with 1GB of RAM each cases on windows XP machines. May be I missed something?

I used VS2008+MSDN in Celeron 1.7GHz, 512MB RAM machine.
Both runs at a time smooth in my Celeron 1.73 GHz and 1GB RAM laptop.

I think VS+MSDN type heavy software should not be run in low end
machine. If do so, you may be able to code but compiling will take a
lot of time. and JIT debugging will be way too slower. It'll consume
your development time in low end machine.

I think Development should be done in a high end machine so that all
the tasks besides coding doesn't affect the work flow. If compiling
takes long time, when will you write code then? if starting debugging
takes lots of time when you'll write code??
