I don't think it will be too much of a problem, as the installer only syncs
the repository database, which you'll have to do eventually.
The Hardware Driver (previously known as Restricted Drivers) showed

I assume you disabled your Internet connection before/while installing
Ubuntu for that you had to update your repositories as It was unable to sync
with the main server while installing. Also maybe you've missed, there
supposed to be a small check box in the driver list which lets you enable
the driver. And for the refresh rate I don't know why with new NVIDIA
drivers the refresh rate system looks kind of strange, I've a NVIDIA 7300GT
with Samsung 17", My Resulation and refresh rate is 1152x784 @ 51hz. But I
don't see any difference with my Windows XP with same resulation @ 75hz.
I'm very happy with Hardy ^_^
I've updated to alpha version from my older install of 7.10, now its fully
updated to 8.04 and its running like a charm! no problems whatsoever. I have
it also installed in my office and its also running very smooth, Open office
is quiet first too.
1. I love the new world clock applet. its very handy
2. Nautilus's file copying had a huge improvement and Its very very
useful, I can minimize the copy progress window to notification area. which
is great IMO
3. New wallpaper is nice
4. Startup screen don't fall to text mode when disk check is running. And
they have introduced a disk check progress there.
5. Performance is good
On the negetive side,
1. I'm having problem with Desktop load time, its takes some time to load
the desktop after that everything is good. had the problem in 7.10 too.
2. Nautilus supposed to support Restore Items from trash, but apparently
it still does not.
3. Too many kernel versions in the boot loader screen and now I'll have
to remove some of them manually :( , they should have automatically removed
obsolete kernel packages automatically
Thats all from me, I'm satisfied as always with Ubuntu and their latest
release
