** Description changed:

- I would like to see a backported version of lammps, which is widely used
- for scientific simulation. Specifically, I would like to see lammp
- available in the LTS releases , Ubuntu 12.04 and Ubuntu 10.04
+ Description:
+ Please backport lammps 0~20121116.git9eeec79-1~exp1 (universe) from raring to precise.
+
+ Reason for the backport:
+ ========================
+ I would like to see a backported version of lammps, which is widely used for scientific simulation. Specifically, I would like to see lammp available in the LTS releases , Ubuntu 12.04 and Ubuntu 10.04

  These releases will be more widely available, and is more stable to
  create virtual machine images based on LTS rather than on 12.10 and
  above.
+
+ Testing:
+ ========
+ Mark off items in the checklist [X] as you test them, but please leave the checklist so that backporters can quickly evaluate the state of testing.
+
+ You can test-build the backport in your PPA with backportpackage:
+ $ backportpackage -u ppa:<lp username>/<ppa name> -s raring -d precise lammps
+
+ Backported package available here:
+ https://launchpad.net/~ginggs/+archive/backports
+
+ * precise:
+ [X] Package builds without modification
+ [X] lammps-doc installs cleanly
+ [ ] lammps installs cleanly and runs

** Summary changed:

- Backport request for lammps
+ Please backport lammps 0~20121116.git9eeec79-1~exp1 (universe) from raring
