Hi,

This is a very good initiative. It is quite shocking that the default
Octave in Precise is stuck at the same series as it was in Lucid 2 years
ago. Even RHEL known for being conservative are at 3.4.

How exactly can we help in the adoption of your proposed backport for
Octave ? I read your description in the 1st post but still it was not
very clear to me.
