This looks like a good candidate for a backport.

In order to ensure the safety of upgrading from 10.04 the current
releases of 11.10 for users with this backport enabled, we also need to
backport the package to 10.10 (Maverick) and 11.04 (Natty).

To approve this backport, we need verification that the package
successfully builds, installs, and runs on 10.04, 11.10, and 11.04. I've
uploaded test builds of the backport to my PPA
(https://launchpad.net/~broder/+archive/backports-tests). Please watch
that the package builds successfully, that all of the packages install
on each release without problems, and that the software in the packages
runs.

I'm going to mark these bugs as Incomplete for now, so that the
backports team can track the bugs that have been processed, but please
feel free to change their state to Confirmed when you've finished the
required verification.
