Version 1.4 includes a number of attractive new options, one of which is
particularly interested for improving performance of launchpad.net
itself:

http://haproxy.1wt.eu/download/1.4/doc/configuration.txt

"http-server-close" Helps balance websites using haproxy by keeping a
connection open to the client while possibly sending each request to a
different server.

I have already completed a test build on lucid-amd64 using sbuild, and
did some basic testing, starting/stopping the service and connecting to
the ports it opened.
