OpenOffice.org has EOLed all versions of 2.x.x (see
https://bugs.launchpad.net/hardy-backports/+bug/283137). Right now,
Ubuntu only offers various PPAs for versions of 3.x. The situation, as I
see it:

1. It is unclear to me whether there is any official commitment to either maintain OpenOffice 2.x.x without bugfixes from upstream or to officially backport 3.x.
2. Ubuntu Server will be EOLed somewhere around 2013 (and there are use cases for an office suite on the server, think of on-the-fly document conversion).
3. Up to now, I, as a user, cannot find anything via google pointing out to this situation.

Since part of the "thrill" of using a LTS is exactly to avoid hassle
like that, it is probably useful to address this situation as soon as
possible - either by correcting the information on the website or by
clearing up the maintenance issue(s) one way or another.
