Dear Steve!
I explicitly asked beforehand wether it would be possible to get this
in through a SRU - I was told that the changes are too much for that and
that I should aim for a backport.
Now you come along and tell me that that's not true. Would it be asked
for too much for the two teams to communicate with each other and make
up their mind? I have way to much on my agenda to be sent along between
two teams back and forth when the proper solution would be for the two
to talk to teach other before making such a move.
About karmic-backports, there is no wesnoth-1.8 package in it, it only
lives in backports there so I am at least returning that to New state. I
would do the same with lucid-backports given the feedback I received
from a SRU team member, but then I don't plan to play ping pong on bug
status.
Thanks anyway,
Rhonda
