The backport to Hardy does not appear to be a high priority. For Hardy
users (as myself), if you add "http://ppa.launchpad.net/pidgin-
developers/ppa/ubuntu hardy main" to your list of repositories under
Third-Party Software Synaptic, you can upgrade to the fixed version from
from there.

So much for LTS. :(
