Public bug reported:
After talking with doko today, it seems that Karmic will will not have
python2.4 or python2.5, only python2.6 and 3.whatever. Hardy does not
have python2.6. As many people developing web applications written in
python will want to do development on Karmic (meaning they will have to
use python2.6) and deploy on LTS (which currently doesn't have
python2.6), this seems like the most logical way to solve the problem.
Once python2.6 itself is backported, there will undoubtedly be a
collection of python modules that need to be backported also, but this
is the first enabling step. Once python2.6 is backported, I will rally
volunteers to help with backporting any needed python modules.
