[Bug 337067] [NEW] Please backport avr-libc 1.6.2 from intrepid to hardy

Public bug reported:

Version of avr-libc in Hardy is 1.4.7, which was added over a year ago.
This version does not support many newer target devices, for example -
it will not compile C code targeted for the ATtiny88.  I believe 1.6.2
does, which is available in Intrepid.  Therefore, it would be beneficial
to have 1.6.2 available in Hardy.  Thanks for your help.
