This is a SRU (Stable Release Update) request. I don't think it should
be considered a duplicate of bug #382048.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure

Subversion 1.5.4 is a poor release to ship in jaunty, as is Subversion
1.5.1 in intrepid. Both are quite buggy.

Subversion 1.5.6, however, is the most stable release that is (or was)
also available in karmic. Hence it should be strongly considered for
SRU, both in jaunty and in intrepid.

I'm well aware of the Subversion 1.6.x series; after all, I do provide
backports of Subversion 1.6.3 in my Launchpad PPA:

https://launchpad.net/%7Emdiers/+archive/svn16

Subversion 1.6.1 is not a good candidate for a backport to jaunty, it is
buggy for non-trivial use cases.

Subversion 1.6 also mandates a new working copy format that does not
jive with existing 1.5.x clients. Thus Subversion 1.6.x cannot be
considered for jaunty SRU, AFAICT.
