Hi,
  Just leaving notes here for whoever follows.  FreeSwitch 1.0.2 will not compile with libtool 2 (which is used in intrepid and jaunty).  There are some patches being worked on here:

to fix that.  They apply cleanly to the source of the package I noted
above (which is 1.0.2 with some patches).

With that patch, the source builds, but the deb package has a few
problems on jaunty.
