This does not look like an appropriate backport at all. First, backports
are for new features, not for bug fixes. Bugs should be fixed through
SRUs. If that new upstream release only fixes bugs, it can be considered
for SRU as a whole.

Second, the backport process works by uploading new versions to intrepid
and building the backported packages automatically, in order to avoid
creating a multitude of package branches which have to be maintained
separately.
