It is now a year ago, since a backport of a newer openoffice version for
Dapper Drake was requested with this bug report. However, nothing has
happened so far.

I don't understand, why an LTS version does not get more backports of
such important applications. The lacking new version of OpenOffice was
one of the main reasons, why I had to upgrade to Edgy, then Feisty and
now Gutsy, even though I was otherwise quite satisfied with Dapper
Drake.
