Public bug reported:

Current version in Feisty repositories is 2.1.0-1.  It looks like the
dependencies are pretty flexible.  For relevant information, see
http://packages.ubuntu.com/feisty/web/wordpress and
http://wordpress.org/development/2007/01/ella-21/


As the second link mentions, hundreds of bugfixes, as well as the current version being necessary for some plugins.
