Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I did this: 
I downloaded the democracyplayer_0.9.2.1-2.1ubuntu2.dsc source package (with related files).

Simply extracting with dpkg-source -x and building with 'dpkg-
buildpackage -rfakeroot' does not yield any usable results. Only
python2.5 modules are installed, and once democracy runs it does just
like this old version (reported) does.

/Changing/ the source package by editing debian/control and
debian/pyversion to reference 2.4 (not 2.5) and building, gives a
democracy that starts and work when browsing files and channels and so
on. But it seems to segfault on playing videos.
