I have the same opinion as the initial reporter: "These features are
highly desirable for my Postfix deployments and would be of value to
many Ubuntu server users." Like me ;)

Especially the Dovecot SASL support who is available in Postfix 2.3 and
later.

So it would be great to have this version of Postfix in Dapper (which is
clearly the first choice if you do a server installation, because of the
long term support).

Dovecot SASL support is much better for someone who uses the same
configuration as I do (Postfix as SMTP, Dovecot for IMAP and POP3)
because there is no need of extra packages (the cyrus-sasl ones) and all
of the user:password - handling could be done in only ONE file.

The build-deps make it look like it should build on dapper. So it
wouldnt be no greater problem to do this IMHO.

Postfix is one of the essential packages for Ubuntu on a server, and
Dovecot is used by a increasing number of users, who dont want to have
such heavyweight IMAP/POP3 servers like Courier and Cyrus.

So I would raise the importance of this package a lot :)
