The kernel modules for alsa are in the kernel... your best bet is to
talk to a kernel developer about getting the support for your chipset
backported to Dapper/Edgy's kernel, which is certainly possible.

The backports team has no way of changing kernel module versions....
backporting the alsa package only backports the userland utilities,
which is rather pointless :)
