I'm playing nexuiz on my dapper box as well, manually recompiled on dapper. The soundproblem for me was that I needed to install libsdl1 .2debian-alsa, instead of libsdl1.2debian-oss -- [backports] nexuiz https://launchpad.net/bugs/52311
