[Bug 77012] git-core 1.4.4

Public bug reported:

git has seen some big improvement since 1.4.1.
1.4.4.1 (current stable git version) and compiles fine under edgy, despite the package from feisty asks for newer perl modules and such.

Could you please backport it so that it's available to edgy users
without compiling it by hand ?
