setting up a backports environment

i was wondering if anyone had any tips on setting up a nice backports
environment? right now i am finishing an install of dapper in a vm, and
was planning on using that. any other ideas/suggestions/where to go
after that? any procedures etc as well would be most welcome.

also, where would i get that upb build script i have heard of?
