I use the G+ photo sync feature to sync my photos with Picasa.  I have 
an app to download all my picasa pics with my desktop - checkout 
https://code.google.com/p/pycasa-download/.  Long process but then I 
know I have them in 3 places.

The addons are in the repos, so do it in Thunderbird - Tools > Addons

Search for Lightning and install it
Search for Google Contacts and install "Google Contacts" and "Provider 
for Google Calendar"

Over The Air - it means you can download firmware straight to your phone.
